My second finished object came off the needles on February 2, but I had to keep it hush hush since it was a gift for Mom.
These are the Wood Hollow Mittens by Kirsten Kapur. She has some great mitten designs. I like the way the little circles run up the sides. I made a slight modification to the pattern by making the center cables mirror each other. The pattern called for the same cabling on the left and right mittens. Small difference, but it makes me happy.
The yarn is Yarn Bee Soft Secret Solids in the Fog colorway. It's a really nice acrylic yarn from Hobby Lobby. I know, the words really nice and acrylic and Hobby Lobby don't necessarily belong in the same sentence, but I couldn't be happier with this yarn. Mom's allergic to wool, so acrylic is really the only thing I use for her mittens. The yarn doesn't feel like acrylic. It's very soft, has a bit of a halo, and it's not squeaky on the needles.
Now she can finally retire this pair, which are still serviceable (although shabby) after four years!

I think my cabling skills have gotten better, don't you?
