Knitting ennui. I have been having a serious case of knitting ennui. I haven't lost the mojo, like I did this past summer, but I'm not excited about what's on the needles. It seems that everyone else's projects are prettier than mine. I have been wanting to buy yarn, against my cold sheeping commitment. I have been wanting to cast on all the things.
I have too many WIPs. Casting on all the things wouldn't be prudent at this juncture. So what's a girl to do when she has too many WIPs and wants to cast on all the things and buy shiny new yarn against her cold sheeping commitment but she knows she shouldn't?
She creates a slog-along!
I have had tons of fun in the cold sheeping thread of the Stash and Burn group over on Ravelry. Really, if you have ever thought of stashing down or simply making more mindful purchases, you should join us. The ladies over there make me laugh almost every day. Mostly we encourage each other to watch our stashes. Sometimes we enable each other to cast on new projects (ahem—sorry, you-know-who-you-are). And when the going gets tough, we can always count on each other to find new ways to stay focused.
Between now and the end of the year, a few of us have committed to this slog-along (a mini-slog, since it's only a few weeks). We are trying to reduce the WIPs between now and the end of the year. As an added incentive, those who match or exceed my finished WIP count will be entered into a drawing to win a pattern and some new stitch markers. One of the participants has even reciprocated and says that if I beat her finished WIP count, she will buy me a new pattern.
Fun, fun, fun!
I have finished two WIPs so far. Needless to say, I am not in the lead, but I am still having a blast!
