This was my niece Ella's first knitting project in the round, and it didn't stick. I began the hat by knitting the textured brim, then turned it over to her to do the stockinette portion. She gave up on it after knitting just a couple of rounds. I think the amount of time it took her to get back to the beginning-of-round stitch marker was the deterrent.
Which brings me to some knitalongs I have been participating in. Andi over at My Sister's Knitter is hosting a WIPdown KAL. Between now and September 30, we are attempting to finish as many WIPs as possible. If you fall victim to wanting to cast on all the things and need to clear off some needles, you should definitely join us. Andi describes the KAL on her blog here, and the Ravelry group is here. (And whether or not you participate in the KAL, you should add Andi's blog to your list of must-reads. She is always knitting the prettiest shawls and is a sock addict like me.)
After I finish the mittens and the scarf, I've got some sock WIPs (or SIPs) lined up, which brings me to another knitalong. The annual Sock Knitters Anonymous August SIPdown is about to begin. Since August is a vacation month from SKA's monthly challenges, many of us in that group use August to finish as many pairs of socks-in-progress as possible. The person who finishes the most pairs wins. That won't be me, since I've only got four pairs on the needles, way fewer than many of the participants. But it's always great fun to watch Christine's and Denise's antics and see those socks fly off the needles.
Here are this year's socks-in-progress:
These are the projects I plan on working on in the foreseeable future. What's on your needles? Are you a monogamous knitter, or do you have a bad case of startitis like me? And have you participated in any nifty knitalongs lately?
